I don't know why, but I find the whole "17th Grade" thing funny. Probably because of all the pictures you see on social media when school starts of everyone's kids going off to their first day of school in whatever grade they're starting. You know the one's I'm talking about, where the kids are standing right outside their house with the little sign.

Ya, THOSE pictures (sorry to whoevers' kids those are, I found the pic on Google). Well, I was talking with my grandma and she mentioned that she'd like me to take a picture like that, so I thought, "why not." And that's where I started wondering what grade I would list on my little sign. Would I just put Master's degree? That's just not as fun. So, I did the silly thing of tallying up the grade I would be in had I kept numbering the years past 12th grade. And, here you have it

Alas, I'm in grade 17. Five whole years past graduating high school. Had you told high school me that i'd still be in school five years after graduating, I'd have probably laughed at you...and then maybe cried a little. But, it turns out I'm a sucker for knowledge. I wouldn't be putting myself through even more school if I didn't enjoy it!
Now, today was the first day of class. Every day this fist week we have the same classes. A programming lecture in the morning, then a programming lab in the afternoon, followed by a programming tutorial. I know what you're thinking, "that's a whole lot of programming". I couldn't agree more! This week is an intensive week of laying the groundwork for beginning programmers. So far, it's not been too bad. I've found that I consolidate what I've learned best by taking sloppy notes in class, then re-writing them more neatly when I get home. Today's notes were a doozy. So much so, in fact, that I took a little video of all the pages I just re-wrote of today's notes to show you.
My right hand hurts a butt-load from all of that writing. I feel like the lady in that infomercial.
As far as first days go though, it was pretty darn good!
