It's a Bird, It's a Plane!

So, travel day came and went with a nine and a half hour flight to Manchester, then a 3 hour layover, and finally a one hour flight to Glasgow. The nine hour plane ride actually went by pretty fast, I think. I wasn't able to sleep any, which I deeply regretted later that day. I tried, though! I had the window seat, so I propped up my pillow with the blankets they gave us and got all cozy, but my eyes just kept popping open. The layover in Manchester was probably the hardest part as it was very cramped, a lot of people in little spaces.

But, it was quite exciting to finally be in Glasgow after so much time waiting and wondering! We took a quick taxi ride to Murano Student Village to get into our temporary dorms, I've included a quick tour below:

As you can see, it's a little cramped, but it'll do for the 11 days we'll be here.

At this point we've gone roughly 21 hours without sleep, so we're basically just zombies trying to decide what to do with ourselves. It's only 2pm in Glasgow. They say that, in order to avoid jet lag you need to immediately go onto your new hometown's schedule to acclimate as quickly as possible, so we decided that we would go walk around for a while, go get dinner, and then come back and sleep. I'll tell you, walking around a completely new area was hard being that tired, and when we stopped to eat dinner I'm pretty sure I fell asleep several times over my katsu chicken and rice.

Luckily, the place we ate, called Xensation, was very close to our dorms, so we quickly returned home, showered up, and finally put our heads down at 27 hours without sleep. Needless to say, we slept until 1:30pm the next day and got 16 hours of sleep to make up for it.
