Several months ago my friend Ashlee and I decided that we wanted to visit Disneyland one more time before we left for Scotland. We booked our room back in May, had it all planned out, and headed off to Disneyland on Monday the 7th. Traffic was killer. We thought that travelling on a Monday would save us from the treacherous stop-and-go of it all, but apparently there's no "good day" to travel to California.
I found myself wondering what I did to piss off the traffic gods, annoying Ashlee with my constant yelling to no one in particular, "What have I done to upset you! Please tell meeeeeeeeeheeeeheee." After being stuck in what could only be explained as a time loop for half an eternity we finally arrived at our hotel, The Grand Legacy at the Park, roughly 1-2 blocks from the main entrance of Disneyland. We checked into our room, grabbed our stuff, and headed to the park to finish out the half day we had left in Disneyland.
California Adventure
Our second day was devoted to California Adventure. One of the big reasons we wanted to come to Disneyland was to ride the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride that took over The Tower of Terror in May. We entered the park and started a day full of fun (and melting, as the temp was 88 with 86% humidity), riding the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride a total of three times, and riding as many other rides as we could fit in! I also got my favorite treat from Ghirardelli, the salted caramel sundae, which was super delicious. Here's a little video I made to show ya'll my day. The park closed a little early for my taste at 9 pm, so we went to a Mexican restaurant in Downtown Disney to get some dinner once we were booted out. Don't ask why, but was a little obsessed with Boomerangs the whole trip.
Disneyland
Our last day was spent in Disneyland where we tried to pack in as many rides as possible! Around 10:30pm we shimmied up into the areas roped-off to watch Fantasmic and after about 15 minutes of waiting, a man's voice came over the intercom and announced that the show was cancelled, which was a super bummer cause It's been so long since I've seen it and I don't think Ash has seen it at all. Aside from that let-down, It really was such a fun day. We got on Indiana Jones right before the park closed and then on our way out we hopped the rope and got right back in line to get a "twofer" minutes after the park closed at 12 am! After exiting Indiana Jones we decided to go sit by Sleeping Beauty's castle for a little bit as Main Street is open for an hour after the park closes. So, we sat by the castle until roughly 12:30 am and finished out the night shopping down Main Street until about 1:05 am. It was pretty magical and i'm already dying to go back!
