Day in the Mountains

In a spur of the moment decision, we decided to go up to Brian Head for the day. My parent's were already up there enjoying a weekend at our condo, so I thought, "why not go up and beat the heat for the day!" There was an event going on with music and drinks and activities, like a small zip line, tubing, rock climbing, and a ride up the Giant Steps ski lift. As soon as we arrived I wanted to hop on the ski lift, as it's my favorite summertime ride at Brian Head. While walking across the street I couldn't help but notice how much cooler it was compared to St George, it was such a beautiful day! Overcast skies, a cool breeze, and clean mountain air can't be beat. Aaron and I went straight to the ticket booth to purchase our lift tickets, but were told that the lift was temporarily closed due to a lightning warning, but to come back soon as they thought it would be going again shortly. To pass the time we bought tubing tickets and headed over to the tubing hill. They basically lay out a plastic track on the winter tubing hill so that they can have summer tubing, too.

After a few times down the hill we went back over to purchase our lift tickets, as it came back online shortly after tubing. We hoped on the ski lift and enjoyed a very peaceful, cool, 10 minute ride up the mountain, grabbed a few pics and a panorama, and headed back down. I can see why people return to nature to find themselves, there's something so cleansing about the mountains.

We got off the lift right in time because it started pouring rain. We ran back to the condo while their was a break in rainfall to head over to Cedar Breaks lodge for dinner. That's when the rain really started coming down again, even hailing at times. It was quite the adventure getting off the mountain as a flash flood warning was issued before we left. Even though parts of the road were covered in rubble, and at times i couldn't see the lines on the road, we were able to make it home safely.
